“If you find yourself constantly trying to prove your worth to someone, you have already forgotten your value.”
What does it mean to be chosen? Not in a religious, biblical, over-realistic way, but in a human day-to-day life. Do the people in your life choose you or are you merely an option and not even a top one?
A long time ago a friend of mine turned down a job offer because he was the back up option. He knew exactly what his value was and he knew he wanted to work for a company that saw his full potential and valued it to the max. When he initially told me about it, I thought it was a silly ego thing. After all he was a smart guy, he was the perfect choice for that position, and it was a well-known company. I didn’t really get it because I didn’t see my own value the way he saw his. I thought if someone chose me then I would be the lucky one, the blessed one, whereas he understood that it was not luck, it was simply being appreciated for his full potential.
As you look at your life right now, are you the chosen one? Being chosen is an amazing thing, don’t take it for granted and never underestimate its value. If you are the chosen one, then keep it up, you must be doing something right. But if you’re not, take a step back, do you want to be the second option, to sit on the bench until someone else gets kicked off the game so you can step in? Or do you want to be a front-runner, a player in the game of life, a person who knows their value and understands that they are worth being the first choice?
To quote Matrix, “Being the one is like being in love. No one can tell you you’re in love, you just have to know it.” Do you know your value? Do you know if you’re the one?
