“You must be the person you have never had the courage to be. Gradually, you will discover that you are that person, but until you can see this clearly, you must pretend and invent.” – Paulo Coelho
Sometimes we look up to the people around us and we wish we could be like them. Maybe they have a certain kind of confidence, maybe they have the courage to go for things when we hold back, maybe they’re one of those people who effortlessly glide through life aware of their power, yet humble at the same time.
Unfortunately more often than not, we believe that we can’t be all those things we admire about them and we find all the excuses for which we refuse to even attempt it. But the reality is that we choose who we are every day. Sometimes we choose by not choosing, we fall back into old patterns that brought us to the place we are today and other times, we actually make a consistent and very aware choice.
Take a little time today and dream about the person you’ve never had the courage to be. Who is that person? What inspires you about them? What would that person say to the person you are today?
Once you’re clear of the person you want to be, but you’ve never had the courage to be, then your work begins. The day to day discovery and building of that person until one day you can look in the mirror and feel inspired by the person you had the courage to be.
