I kept debating if I should write about this past weekend as the experience I had was extremely personal and while I loved the idea of sharing it and inspiring other people, I could help feeling like I was inviting people from all over the world into my heart, people I know, but also people I’ve never met. After a few days of starting to write this post only to delete it after the first paragraph, I got a message from a complete stranger who read a blog post I wrote a while back called The Moment Of Clarity and how much it inspired him and then I knew I had to write about this wonderful weekend I had.
Last weekend was Easter weekend for me (Orthodox Easter for those of you out there wondering) and I got the amazing opportunity to not only celebrate with people who have become my family, but also to be in service to the world. I’m not the most religious person, but I value kindness, I value tradition, and I value being loving and supportive to everyone around me. While having the amazing honor to be one of the senior staff members for a personal development weekend in Big Bear, lifting people to the sky under the stars, watching shooting stars, hearing birds chirping early in the morning, playing on a kids jungle gym (because why not?), I also had two incredibly surreal experiences.
One of them happened early morning on Sunday. I was just waking up, still half dreaming and I heard a bit of one of my favorite Adele songs, “Make You Feel My Love”. The parts I heard as I was in and out of sleep were the following:
“I know you haven’t made your mind up yet, / But I will never do you wrong.
I’ve known it from the moment that we met, / No doubt in my mind where you belong.”
“You ain’t seen nothing like me yet.”
I could barely hear the song and for a few hours after I woke up, I still wasn’t sure if I had dreamed it or if I had actually heard it. As it turned out, one of my friends was in the bathroom getting ready for the day while playing this exact song on very low volume so she wouldn’t disturb the rest of us.
The song has stayed with me this entire week and the lyrics show up in my head all the time. It seemed to be the Universe’s declaration to me at every step, showing up exactly before I would go into an important meeting or before a tough call.
The second moment happened sometime on Sunday when I was lifted up to the sky by a group of people and I was given one song, a song that defines me in their eyes, that says everything anyone would ever need to know about me. While I was looking at the cloudless California sky, lifted in the air by all these people, the song they gave me was Nat King Cole, “Unforgettable”. Needless to say, I was blown away. I remember hearing the lyrics as a happy chirping bird flew right by me and feeling everyone’s hands supporting me as if in that moment their only purpose was to lift me up to the sky.
“Unforgettable / In every way,
And forever more / That’s how you’ll stay.”
All these things got me thinking about unforgettable moments and people in my life and making sure I always make them feel my love no matter what. We all have those people in our lives and those moments that take our breath away, that we’ll remember forever.
Have you made the unforgettable people in your life feel your love, feel just how unforgettable they are and what a blessing they are in your life? If you haven’t done it yet, take the chance today, tell them how incredible it is “ That someone so unforgettable / Thinks that I am [you are] / Unforgettable, too.”
