I keep hearing this saying lately that in the end we are all the same, that we all bleed red blood and that deep down we are really the same. I don’t believe that to be true. While on a surface level we might all seem the same, bleeding that same red blood, seeming more or less similar, I believe we have something really important that makes us extremely different from one another. Our values are what make us different every day. I value honesty, integrity, loyalty, love, compassion, while for other people those things come secondary or tertiary or maybe they don’t even make the list.
Next time you meet someone and you trying to understand how they feel, how they thing, why they make the decisions they make, consider that maybe, just maybe, they are quite different from you, that they hold different values from you, that their goals about the present and the future are not yours and instead of trying to understand them through your values, you might be better off accepting that there are some things you will never understand.
