I read an article by Deepak Chopra the other day about the power of resilience in his life and how it has brought him to where he is today and it got me thinking about how important it is to keep going in the face of adversity, to not give up on our dreams even if sometimes they seem impossible. The article came in a timely matter as most things in life do as I had been thinking about the adversity I had to deal with in my life and how I moved past it.
We’ve all had those moments when things get tough, when we’re seriously considering if it’s worth it to keep going in a particular direction or if we should just cut our losses and move on, we’ve all sought advice from our trusted advisors and friends or have made our endless lists of pros and cons or used whatever our preferred method was to make a decision. Personally I’ve used all those methods and I’m sure many more that I don’t recall right now. Whether I chose to leave a particular situation or to keep going, there was one thing that always proved to be right every time regardless of what anyone else was saying or what the list of pros and cons was averaging.
When I was 22 I was working my first job ever. I was a studio manager for an advertising photographer, a job that turned me on to the passion for photography, advertising, and just looking for the beauty in life in general. I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life. I guess to some extent I still don’t. But I still have that same drive I had when I was 22, the one thing that kept me going when I was riding the wave and when I was drowning at hitting the rocks. It was the undying belief in the good in the world, in the love in my heart as well as the hearts of everyone I meet. For me love has always transcended every dimension of this world and has moved me forward in every endeavor of my life.
What is the one thing that moves you forward every day? The one thing that no matter how good or how bad things are, you still have the strength to believe in?
