“Marry the person who makes you feel like you can face life together. Because that’s what it’s about! It’s about facing life together.” ― C. JoyBell
One of my good friends is getting married this weekend to an amazing woman who makes him feel special at every step, a woman who made him feel special from the second he met her and continues to do so every day. A woman who honors him and feels honored by him. As I’m getting ready to celebrate their love, I can’t help but remember that one phone call he made to me a few years ago during which he just said: “Lav, I found her!”
After I moved to LA, we would have a phone conversation every few weeks that would last hours during which we’d talk about all the crazy things we used to talk over brunch or late night eggs and croissants after yoga classes while I was in NY. I remember smiling as I heard him say that he’d found her. I almost got tears in my eyes. He had been looking for her for a long time; so long he had almost given up. But he didn’t. And then she showed up. Just like most things happen in life…we work so hard to find or achieve something and just when we think there’s nothing left, then it appears.
As I stand by them this weekend, I have no doubt in my mind that they were meant to be, that everything they’ve been through in life before meeting each other was leading them towards each other from all the love and heartbreaks, the hopes and doubts, the illusions and disillusions, the faith and the disbelief. It has all brought them to this moment in time, the moment they say I do, the moment they choose each other to face the rest of their lives together.
