There is a lot of advice out there about what to do when you are stressed, how to handle a challenging circumstance when there’s nothing you can do about it, how to move on, how to let go of the stress, but the reality is that most of the times we’re not even sure what is happening to us when we’re caught up in the middle of things. There is however on thing we can do to at least start the process of letting go of the anxiety and the stress related to a particular situation – determine how important it is depending on the time investment.
Is this situation something that will be important to you a week from now, a month, a year, 10 years? The likelihood of something still being stressful after so long is quite small, but once you determine the time frame, you can easily consider if that’s something you’re ok having as part of your life for so long.
Whatever you’re dealing with right now, just take a minute to ask yourself – does it pass the 10-year test? If it doesn’t, the sooner you let it go the better your life will be.
