We live in a culture that overvalues business. Whenever you ask someone how they are, the response is inevitably “busy, so busy”, as if somehow being busy gives value to our very existence. We get too busy for our families, too busy for our friends, too busy for our lovers, just too busy for life in general, we get busy simply being busy.
Stop talking about being so busy and start organizing your life to make time. Whether it’s a to-do list, less procrastination, more efficiency, maybe it’s delegating some of your work. Whatever it is, stop talking about how busy you are and start organizing your busy-ness.
Start making time for yourself. If you you don’t take care of yourself, how do you expect to take care of other people? Whether it’s pampering yourself from time to time, sleeping more, taking a walk, going to the gym, getting your hair done, whatever pampering means to you, do that! Recharge yourself so you have more to give to the world.
Ask for help. No man is an island, so why act like one? At any given moment there are people and tools that can help you work through whatever you’re going through. So why not ask for help and take the help.
So make a decision today to make time for the things that matter, the things you’re looking to accomplish, and most importantly the people who matter. Stop glorifying busy!
